In an effort to prolong this great celebration of great women and mothers on Mothers Day weekend, I would like to share something about Heavenly Mother.
Never Forget
A quick reminder that God truly is no respecter of persons. He desires that all would “come unto him”:
(2 Nephi 26:33) “For none of these iniquities come of the Lord; for he doeth that which is good among the children of men; and he doeth nothing save it be plain unto the children of men; and he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile.”
And not even an exceptional title within the church, not one, qualifies a person to automatically receive the presence of the Lord, become a witness of Him and learn personally from Him. Each must seek, knock and ask for “there is none other way” (2 Nephi 9:41).
A Daughter’s Perspective
To celebrate “woman” and “motherhood”, I would like to share with you the experience of bathing in the presence of Heavenly Mother. To do that, I felt it necessary to share it from the perspective of a woman and daughter of God. There is just something special about the relationship and connection that a woman and daughter has with her mother, let alone Heavenly Mother.
I have had the pleasure of visiting with a few sisters that were willing to share their most wonderful experiences of entering into “the rest” (presence) of the Lord. Each of them at some point were introduced to Mother by the Savior and Father.
I reached out to a friend of mine that happens to be one of these women. As I share her personal words, I encourage you to visualize the experience and focus on the feelings in your soul.
I will also tell you that every question to my friend felt like she was left feeling insufficient in her words. She expressed over and over how difficult it is to put her feelings and emotions into words. The most plain and yet profound words she could share follow:
On being in Mother’s presence, “She is love. She is Strength yet so Soft. She is Delicate yet so Strong. She is Bold. She is one with Father…but she is ‘Woman.’ She is God. She is the definition of beauty. She is the most delicate but the most strong. There are not enough words to express the ‘the feeling’ of Mother.”
As you would imagine or expect, “She has a Mother’s touch. A touch that only ‘Woman’ or Mother could have. In that way, She is not the same as Father but that also in no way takes away from Father. She is the ultimate Mother…the woman’s touch…something only She can give and is meant to give. It is her footprint. A touch that is designed to heal in a specific way–a way that every soul needs. There are days when I yearn for Her because there is none like Her or Her touch.”
“Virtue and righteousness is the source of Her power. That power exists in ‘woman’ (the divine feminine). Her power is in righteousness. She can do all things. She says to me, ‘you’re my daughter and there is nothing you cannot do’. This power from virtue and righteousness is what unifies Her and Father.”
“If Father and Mother are one then the only difference between the two is that she is ‘woman.’ They command us to become like the Savior and come unto the Savior first. Following the Savior means becoming an extension of Mother. We are becoming more like her. We are acquiring those divine characteristics. The Savior is how we begin to comprehend Mother. Focus on the Savior. We can come to know that She lives within us. We are created in Her image also. They would never ask us to do something that She and They, Themselves, have not already done.”
Writing this, I weep. Thank you, my dear friend, for that unique perspective.
Thank you, Mother. My soul cries for you too. Always,
Your Son [JourneyDoctrineOfChrist]
P.S. [a tribute to Mother] I invite you to see inspiring artwork dedicated to Mother in Heaven.
