In response to a request of the Lord, I humbly ask for a little allowance to be clear, direct and bold in this message. Please don’t misunderstand–my tone here really is loving, hopeful, inviting, correcting and praising of the Lord.
Arrived Yet?
It is easy to become focused one’s LDS church membership or status-quo LDS lifestyle including considering yourself “active” in church, having a calling, having received temple ordinances or even having a current temple recommend. It is easy to believe that one’s church membership status is sufficient to “receive,” as though one’s membership status may earn it or deserve it–that some status is the pinnacle of our mortality or even that our status means we “have arrived.”
I humbly assure you that you have not “arrived.”
Or maybe, simply because we are members of the restored church we believe we have been offered and given all. We are comfortable because we have “a prophet for that” and we think “we have enough.”
“Therefore, wo be unto him that is at ease in Zion! Wo be unto him that crieth: All is well. Yea, wo be unto him that saith: We have received, and we need no more! (2 Nephi 28:24-32)
I humbly assure you that there is more.
The reality is that in order for you to move forward, your Savior has to be the object of your affection. You have to seek Him. You have to learn who He is. You must love Him. You must be dependent upon Him. He is the one that saves. A person will not “desire” if they do not “let the affections of thy heart be placed upon the Lord forever” (Alma 37:36). It is the difference between being converted to the church versus being converted to the Lord.
Get Out of Your Own Way
The Lord is trying to do whatever He can to help you–each of us–to come out of the world. The problem is that we will not get out of our own way. We simply love the world too much at times. Repent today.
He offers a church organization and church leaders whose stated role in the Handbook (2) it is to point and direct us to Jesus Christ because the church nor its leaders save. The Savior, Jesus Christ, saves.
“The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized by God to assist in His work to bring to pass the salvation and exaltation of His children. The Church invites all to ‘come unto Christ, and be perfected in him’ (Moroni 10:32; see also D&C 20:59). The invitation to come unto Christ pertains to all who have lived, or will ever live, on the earth.” –(Handbook 2, 2.2 The Purpose of the Church)
And according to section 3.1 of LDS Handbook 2, the purpose of every church leader, from your auxiliary leader to your Bishop to the President of the church, is to “help other people become true followers of…Jesus Christ.”
And in general conference, they repeatedly point us to Christ and say, “A prophet does not stand between you and the Savior. Rather, he stands beside you and points the way to the Savior.” (Elder Neil L. Anderson, April 2018 General Conference)
Like the children of Israel, we love our prophets more.
We do not have ears to hear and eyes to see.
We should get out of our own way.
You are being called–every day.
Teach It & Share It
If you are reading this and you have yet to learn the Doctrine of Christ–go learn. If you have learned and believe on the words of Christ–live it by seeking earnestly for it. Enos cried unto the Lord in mighty prayer all day and received a mighty change, redemption, and tremendous promises. Have you? There is none other way.
In your journey to living it, you are commanded to teach it and share it.
(Moses 6:57-59) “Wherefore teach it unto your children, that all men, everywhere, must repent, or they can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God, for no unclean thing can dwell there, or dwell in his presence…Therefore I give unto you a commandment, to teach these things freely unto your children, saying: That by reason of transgression cometh the fall, which fall bringeth death, and inasmuch as ye were born into the world by water, and blood, and the spirit, which I have made, and so became of dust a living soul, even so ye must be born again into the kingdom of heaven, of water, and of the Spirit, and be cleansed by blood, even the blood of mine Only Begotten; that ye might be sanctified from all sin, and enjoy the words of eternal life in this world, and eternal life in the world to come, even immortal glory”
So many of us live in darkness because we were not taught by the generation before us and likely because they were not taught by the generation before them. Do not repeat the cycle of unlearned generations.
Teach and share with your own circle of influence the Doctrine of Christ. Convert your home into a place of learning. One of the origins of The Doctrine of Christ Study Guide is that we have been teaching it to our children–young and teens. Our home is becoming a place of feasting on the scriptures, personal revelation, and incredible discussions like never before. The windows of heaven are beginning to open and the glory of God, through the Holy Spirit, is entering into us. We are not extraordinary, though. We are just taking the Lord at His word and trying as we can to hold Him to His promises.
The origin, also, of The 3 Voices of Personal Revelation Study Guide is that we taught it to our children–young and teen. How else were they supposed to learn the Doctrine of Christ, learn the difference between their own voice and the voices of light, learn the deceptive practices of the voices of darkness and navigate through every day life challenges and all on their own? Again, our home became a place of feasting on the scriptures, unmatched personal revelation and incredible discussions like never before. Again, the windows of heaven opened and the glory of God, through the Holy Spirit, entered into us. Again, I assure you, we are not extraordinary.
Share what you know with others. Love them and forgive them if they are doubting or cynical. Tell them there is a way for them to realize the truth for themselves through God’s written word and His voice (personal revelation). That’s the purpose of JourneyDoctrineOfChrist.org. That’s the purpose for each of the study guides–to help people learn, believe, and live it for themselves.
I assure you that the content in those study guides was and is inspired by the Lord. They are His. Share them freely.
The New Generation
The Lord is calling you and everyone else to be part of the new generation that learns it, believes it, lives it, teaches it, and shares it.
- A new generation that knows with confidence how to discern the voices of light from the voice of their own spirit and from the voices of darkness;
- A new generation that is not distracted by the world;
- A new generation that desires to get truth from God and not depend on the arm of flesh;
- A new generation that knows they are 100% unique to God (Them), that knows they have a unique mission while loving and respectful of others’ unique mission;
- A new generation that does not fear what others think (including fellow members of the church);
- A new generation that is willing to praise the Lord, pray with open arms (not folded) and open to unlearning a few other cultural traditions;
- A new generation that can rend the veil of unbelief;
- A new generation that understands the Doctrine of Christ and knows the real end goal of returning to the presence of the Lord in mortality;
- A new generation that shares what they know or are learning with others and then invites them to learn it as well;
- A new generation that will appropriately open their mouth about it in Sunday meetings, speak and testify of it over the pulpit, in classrooms and bear witness of it to their peers.
- A new generation that desires to be cleansed, sanctified and apart from the world;
- A new generation that wants to begin their journey by seeking for their own baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost;
- A new generation that has seen the marks of the Savior’s atonement and experienced His glory;
- A new generation that is truly empowered from on high and prepared to serve the Lord;
The Lord invites you, right now, to be the new generation. Covenant with Him that you will. He will honor that covenant and the desires of your heart.
As a servant of the Lord, I offer my personal witness.
Hallelujah!
